A free tour provides the best opportunity to get a real "feel" for the program at Metropolitan School. The Admission/Family Resource Administrator schedules tours on most weekdays. The majority of visitors prefer to schedule the tour when students are in the classrooms. So most tours do not begin before 8:45 A.M., allowing students time to settle in, and the last tour of the day generally occurs at 2 P.M. allowing adequate time to tour before dismissal. However, tours can be arranged later in the afternoon if necessary. The majority of inquiring parents take a free tour prior to submitting an application. Call (314) 644-0850 to schedule your building tour.

A completed application for admission should be submitted to Metropolitan School's Admission Office along with the $75.00 non-refundable application fee. If available, send the student's most recent psycho-educational evaluation. Evaluations from an educational agency, medical facility, or private practitioner are acceptable. A personal interview with the applicant and parents/guardian is required prior to admission. The Admission/Family Resource Administrator will schedule your interview when the completed application, application fee, and evaluation materials have been received.

a
After the interview/tour, a full-day visit may be scheduled for your child if you are applying during the months of September-February. This student visit serves the dual purpose of allowing your student to familiarize him/herself with our program and permitting our staff to provide recommendations regarding appropriateness of placement. Once the full-day visit is complete, the Admission/Family Resource Administrator will telephone the parent/guardian to discuss interview impressions and recommendations.

A letter will be sent from the Admission/Family Resource Administrator notifying parents/guardians of acceptance or denial. Metropolitan School admits students on the basis of their individual abilities and potential to benefit from the school's educational program. Metropolitan School's programs and policies apply to all applicants and students without regard to race, gender, religion, national origin, or disability.

A 10% non-refundable registration fee, payable when the Enrollment Agreement is signed, guarantees that a space will be reserved for the student. This deposit is applied to the last tuition payment due.

Approximately 25% of our students attend Metropolitan with financial aid in the form of tuition assistance provided by the School’s Board of Directors. A family may qualify to receive financial aid for a maximum not to exceed 80% of the tuition. All aid is awarded on the basis of financial need. Admissions and financial aid decisions are made independently.

Educational loans require no collateral. You can borrow, if approved, the complete amount of tuition including the registration fee. This would allow you to enroll your student now, without any immediate out of pocket expense. You may apply directly on line and receive approval usually within 24 hours. The entire loan process can be completed in a matter of days. The lending institution pays Metropolitan School directly. Your first payment is due 30 days later. Our current parents are pleased with the low payments the education loan allows them. There is no prepayment penalty. You can pay additional money monthly or make large lump sum payments without penalty.

The variable portion of the interest rate is based on prime, the one month LIBOR or the three month LIBOR depending on the lender. The margin, the portion of the interest rate which remains constant, varies from one company to the next.  The lending institutions will adjust payments periodically based on the fluctuations of the basis.

There are few educational alternatives for our students. These loans have made an education at Metropolitan possible for many of them.

If a child has a medical diagnosis which requires a special educational setting, the tuition for that education may be tax deductible. Whether or not you can take this deduction depends on your tax situation. Taxpayers are only allowed a medical deduction for the amount of expenses they incurred which exceed a certain percentage of their income. This is something you would need to discuss with your tax advisor.
