At Metropolitan our informal, open-door policy invites frequent, casual contacts between administration, staff, students and parents.

We expect and encourage parents to be partners with us in their child’s education. Upon enrollment, all parents automatically become members of the Metropolitan Parent Partnership (M.P.P), the parent organization that services an array of parent needs and interests and encourages parent visibility and involvement in the school. Beginning with the annual Get-Acquainted Potluck Supper in early September, the M.P.P. meets quarterly to provide a forum for informational speakers who address topics of interest for our parents and to facilitate informal parent-to-parent and parent-staff dialogue. Additionally, parents meet at various intervals throughout the year to coordinate volunteer support for fund-raising events, commencement and other school functions.

When the school year begins, all parents automatically become members of the Metropolitan Parent Partnership (M.P.P.). This parent organization serves an array of parent needs and interests and encourages parent visibility and involvement in the school. Beginning with the Annual Get-Acquainted Potluck Supper in early September, the M.P.P. meets monthly to provide a forum for informational speakers who address topics of interest for our parents and to facilitate informal parent-to-parent and parent-staff dialogue.

Each year Metropolitan School, like all independent schools, relies on its parents to partner with our School to achieve a successful Annual Giving Fund.

The Annual Giving Fund provides unrestricted, current operating support for the School’s budget, contributing a minimum of $2,500 per student toward the “gap” between the amount of tuition and the actual cost to educate each student.

Parents, alumni, grandparents, former parents, friends, faculty and staff come together to support this worthy cause
The Annual Giving Fund is the primary fundraising effort at Metropolitan School and we strive to have 100% participation from all Metropolitan School families.

Metropolitan offers superb tutoring by certified, experienced teachers. Sessions must be prearranged through my office. In order to provide the best opportunity for learning, please note our tutoring policy. This agreement must be signed prior to the first tutoring session.

All tutoring will take place in the Metropolitan School building during hours which are prearranged and mutually convenient to both the student and the teacher.

A two-session mini-workshop for all new families, is scheduled in late summer and is geared toward providing new parents with important, basic information they will need prior to the beginning of school. During these meetings, which are facilitated by the Learning Strategist, parents learn about the philosophy and goals of Metropolitan’s multi-faceted program, about the importance of developing a close school-and-home connect, and about some of the ways parents can contribute to maintaining an effective school-and-home collaboration throughout the year.
